This field is owned by the Lorain County Kennel Club.
In a previous life it was the Oberlin Municipal Airport. When LCKC
bought it, they covered the old clay runways with several inches of top
soil, which makes it the softest field I have ever run my dogs on.
This field because of the clay runway base has NO drainage. The club
has put in gravel drives and trees on the left side of the field, so
parking isn't quite as adventurous as it once was, unless you get too far
off the drives. NO ONE is allowed to drive on the show side of the
field. They allow us to run dogs on the area that they keep groomed
for the show. This is finish mowed weekly during the summer.
If it has rained within the last week or so, this field is like running on
a sponge. The next major project planned by the KC is to put in
drain tiles and bring a couple of water connections further into the
field. Camping is allowed, but there are no hookups. There is
very limited shade. |

| Both of these were taken from the
center of the track(1) is to the left, and (2) is to the right. This
is the area that LCKC keeps groomed for the dog show rings. Normally
we put the boxes to the right and run away from the road. On this
day we had a lure coursing practice set up back behind and to the left of
the boxes, and didn't want dogs running toward the other field. |

| Photo (3) shows the pavilion which
is not quite at the middle of the track, making it very convenient to
either box or catch dogs. Photo (4) is of the the pavilion from the
center of the track. |

| Photo 5 taken during the June race meet, shows the track
from the finish looking back toward the boxes, with the pavilion on the
right. While it doesn't show in any of these photos, there is a
water pump just behind where we place the boxes. If necessary, we
could easily move the boxes to the other end and have a cooldown pool
right by the finish. |
