When:   Saturday August 23 and Sunday August 24, 2008

    Where:  Lorain Cnty Kennel Club Grounds, Oberlin, Ohio.

 

ATTENTION:  For those of you who may be planning to camp.....  Please be careful with your dogs running off lead.  Coyotes have been sighted on the back field.

Check in:  8am, both days, earlier if you're there.  There is water on the field.

Boxes will be used for all breeds, except IW, SD, & Borzoi.  All racers will run with both Muzzles and numbered Racing Blankets.

 

Entry fee is $10.00 per dog with a $30 limit per kennel for pre-entries.  A kennel is defined as dogs of one breed brought and handled by one family and owned, or co-owned, by the members of that family.

 

Day of entries will be $15 per dog, with a $45 kennel limit.  Any entry not received by Wednesday at 8:00pm prior to a meet will be considered a "day of" entry with any additional amount for late mail entries collected at the day of the meet.  Entries may be e-mailed to Pfyre@PfyreWhpts.com and paid on meet day.  E-mail needs to contain the Owners Name, Dogs Call Name and the Dogs Registered Name.

Lunch:  Will be a potluck, so please bring something to share.  LARK will provide plates, dinnerware, napkins etc. 

 

Registration with the WRA or LGRA:  All entrants must be registered with the WRA or LGRA.  Bring a photocopy of your dogs registration papers and $2, for each dog, to be sent to the WRA or LGRA, to the race meet.  This is in addition to the entry fee for each dog.  Pre-registration may be sent to the WRA or LGRA so that it arrives at least two weeks before the date of the race meet you desire to enter.  If your dog has run in WRA or LGRA Meets before then it is already registered.  [NOTE:  YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE A COPY OF THE REGISTRATION PAPERS FOR ANY FTE.]

Silkens HAVE to be pre-registered with the ISWRA.  Day of meet registrations will not be accepted. 

 

LGRA Eligible Breeds: Only purebred Afghan Hounds, Azawakh (Provisional), Basenji, Borzoi, Chart Polski (Provisional), Cirneco dell'Etna (Provisional), Greyhounds, Ibizan Hounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Italian Greyhounds, Pharaoh Hounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Salukis, Scottish Deerhounds and Sloughi may enter.

 

LGRA Registration Requirements:  All hounds participating must be individually registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC), eligible for entry into the Stud Book register, Canadian Kennel Club, or with the National Greyhound Association (NGA), or with any foreign registry recognized by the AKC, to include States Kennel Club registry for purebred , USA bred progeny of rare breed, foreign registered Gazehounds not yet officially recognized by the AKC due to small numbers.  Hounds registered with the AKC under Indefinite Listing Privilege (ILP) or the CKC equivalent may also be entered.  All hounds entered must be recognized by the LGRA.  The person entering a hound for racing must be the actual owner, or agent of the owner, or in possession of papers transferring said ownership to the person entering the hound.
 
LARK welcomes Silken Windhounds! If you have an ISWS registered Silken Windhound, your hound may run at this meet. SWs will start from the box, must run muzzled, and will run 3 programs. The scores they receive will be entered into the ISWS grading guide, and titles will be awarded by that organization.

From the SW: South: Take I-71 north past Ashland and exit at  Rt 301. Take Rt 301 north to Rt 224. Go west on Rt 224 to Rt 58. Go north on Rt 58 to Oberlin. In Oberlin pick up Rt 511, turn left and go west to show site.  Once you are on Rt 511, and through Oberlin the first and only light/stop sign is Baumhart Road. The field is one mile past this point, on the left.  There is a white wooden field across the front of the field.

[NOTE:  it might be easier to take I-69 north from Indianapolis to Ft Wayne and pick up the turnpike there and go east to exit 135).

   
From the OH Turnpike: Take Exit 135 , go south on Baumhart Road to Route 511 (5 miles). Go right on Rt 511 for one mile,  field is on the left and there is a white wooden field across the front of the field.    [NOTE:  Route 511 is the first stop sign/light after you pass Ohio 113 AND it is NOT marked]
   
From the East: From I-480 East: Take I-480 West to Rt 10. Follow Rt 10 and it will merge into Rt 20 west. Exit at Rt 511, follow Rt 511 through Oberlin to show site (5 miles from city limits).  [NOTE:  Once you get on Rt 511, the signs will say you are going "south" but you <g> will just know you are going north. Rt 511 is one of those curving routes that actually crosses Rt 20 twice.]  Once you are on Rt 511, and through Oberlin the first and only light/stop sign is Baumhart Road. The field is one mile past this point, on the left.  There is a white wooden fence across the front of the field.
   
From the SE: I-77 north to I-480 west, follow "from the east" directions.
   
From the NE:

Take I-90 west through Cleveland, just past Elyria (exit 145) it will split with the left lanes merging into the Ohio Turnpike, and the right lanes changing to Ohio Rt 2. 

From here you can go either way.  Take the turnpike west for one exit (exit 135 Baumhart Rd) and follow the "from the Ohio Turnpike directions. This is about 2 miles closer, but there is a minor toll, and having to stop at the toll booths.

Or, you can stay to the right and continue west on Rt 2, for 8 miles to the Baumhart Rd exit.  Make a left on Baumhart Rd (south), you will pass under the turnpike.  From the turnpike it is one mile to Rt 113.  This is the last stop light you will pass.  From there continue south for 4 miles, the next stop sign (flashing 4 way signal).  This is Rt 511 (unmarked), turn right, and go one mile.  The field in on the left, and there is a white wooden fence across the front of the field.

From the field:  Right onto Rt 511, north (left) on Baumhart Rd (first stop sign/light) to Rt 2, east (right) to Rt 58 (exit 7), north (left) to hotel entrance.  

From hotel to field:  Right from driveway to Rt 2, west (right) to Baumhart Rd, south (left) to Rt 511, west (right) to field.  Distance 12 miles +/-.  [Once you’re on Baumhart Rd south, and pass the turnpike there is a red light at Rt 113, it is 4 miles to the NEXT stop sign, which is Rt 511.  Rt 511 is NOT marked! ]  Field is on the left of Rt 511 one mile after the turn from Baumhart Rd.

If you’re not a Motel-6 fan. at Rt 2 and Rt 57 (5 miles or so farther east), there is a shopping mall with several restaurants and motels.  Red Roof Inn, Super 8, Days Inn, Best Western, etc.

 

You can camp on the field, but there are no hookups.
